KPI Consulting Services – Sales Performance Dashboard (Power BI)

 

Project Overview
This Power BI project showcases a complete sales analytics dashboard created by a fictional consulting company called KPI Consulting Services.
The goal of the dashboard is to provide decision-makers with clear, interactive, and data-driven insights into sales performance across multiple stores, products, customer segments, and time periods.
This project demonstrates my ability to build professional BI reporting solutions that align with real business needs such as performance monitoring, customer insights, and strategic planning.
 
What I Did (Project Steps)
 
1. Data Understanding and Preparation
Imported raw sales data containing store details, product information, customer demographics, transactions, quantities, and dates.
Cleaned and transformed the dataset in Power Query by:
  • Removing inconsistencies
  • Creating date hierarchies
  • Standardizing categorical fields
  • Ensuring proper data types
2. Data Modelling
Built a star schema with fact and dimension tables to support accurate and fast reporting.
Created relationships between:
  • Customers
  • Products
  • Sales
  • Stores
  • Date
3. DAX Measures Development
Created key business metrics including:
  • Total Sales
  • Total Quantity
  • Average Spend per Transaction
  • Number of Transactions
  • Distinct Customers Purchased
  • YoY comparisons and trend lines
These measures enabled deeper analysis across categories, demographics, and time.
 
4. Dashboard Design & Visualisation
Designed a clean, modern Power BI dashboard that includes:
KPI Cards (Summary Metrics)
  • Total Sales: 14M
  • Total Quantity: 8013
  • Average Spend per Transaction: 6.32K
  • Transactions: 2287
  • Customers Purchased: 36
