Sports fans across the country regularly discuss their favorite teams, players, coaches, etc. throughout each sports season. After all, a common passion connects people — and sports often bring people together. With so many opinions across different teams, what if we wanted to better understand the sentiment across a particular team, coach, game, or player? In this project, I scraped Twitter data to create a dataset with a variety of tweets on this popular NFL player and performed sentiment analysis using R.
