About
I am a computer vision researcher & data scientist. My research focuses on developing real-time computer vision algorithms for healthcare applications. I also worked as a data scientist for more than 3 years in the marketing, finance, and healthcare domain. I am passionate about data and believe in AI's power to improve people's lives. I want to transfer my passion to others and guide them into this vast field through writing, teaching, and mentoring.
Skills
Projects
Experience
Jan 2022 - Aug 2022
Computer Vision Researcher @ Center of Machine Vision
Build and trained attention-based classifiers that improved the classification of exercise-induced fatigue thermal images which is 8 % accurate compared to CNN-based models. Used the attention and CNN-based features to train multiple regressors to estimate the induced fatigue level. Analyzed, visualized, and reported the results and submitted a research paper to SCIA 2023 scientific conference.
Oct 2021 - Mar 2022
Data Scientist @ Alaaddin
• Trained and deployed a real-time CNN-based image classifier on AWS to automate customer requests acceptance which increased the operational speed by 10 %. • Built a power BI dashboard based on insights extracted from the customer segmentation results which helped the marketing team to increase the number of customers by 25%. • Collaborated with the stakeholders and software engineers to define business and technical requirements and set data collection protocol.
Jan 2018 - Apr 2018
Machine Learning Researcher @ Alexandria University
• Developed a generic end-to-end CNN-based model to detect the camera image manipulations for better camera model identification. • Publication: A. El-Yammany, H. Fouad and Y. Raffat, A generic approach CNN-based camera identification for manipulated images, 2018 IEEE International Conference on Electro/Information Technology (EIT)
Oct 2017 - Dec 2017
Machine Learning Engineer @ Valeo
Utilized Python deep learning libraries to implement sequence models to predict car steering angle as part of an advanced driver-assistance system developed by my graduation project team under the supervision of the Valeo AI team.
2019-2021
Data Science Researcher @ Medical Reseach Center
• Utilized statistical methods to find the significant differences in the modulation of brain cardiovascular pulse with respiration between controls and Alzheimer’s cases to help neurological researchers to have a better understanding of Alzheimer’s disease. The differences found were strongly significant (P<0.01) and novel. • Preprocessed and extracted features using a 3D multiresolution optical flow of 0.25 TB complex brain imaging data using Python. • Publication: Youssef Hosni, Ahmed Elabasy Respiration modulates cardiovascular brain impulse pathology in Alzheimer’s disease. Submitted to Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism.
