Experience

June 2023 - August 2024

Programme Assistant - Data Analyis and Reporting

I develop data collection tools using KOBO Toolbox and CommCare platforms, conducting quality checks on data across more than 26 projects. Subsequently, I create M&E reports focusing on analytics, calculating variables like Food Consumption Scores (FCS) and Reduced Coping Strategy Index (rCSI) in Excel. I employ PowerBI with DAX for visualizations, contributing to strategic decision-making and knowledge management. I designed a technical Excel template for DCA and partners to account for more than 70,000 individuals reached annually. This involves establishing M&E systems, reviewing reports, and developing progress tracking templates for routine data capture. I also lead monitoring visits and collaborate on data-driven storytelling and lessons learned.

September 2021 - December 2023

Data Collection Specialist

I designed research tools for Household and Corporate levels, implemented in SurveyCTO. Documented steps in an activity log highlighting data assurance measures. Programmed advanced XLS forms on Excel automating calculations based on captured responses. Trained MEAL Regional Managers globally and Research Assistants in Kenya. Consolidated 15 short questionnaires into a single global tool, ensuring valid skip patterns and logical flow. Trained 12 Research Assistants in Kenya, remotely supervised piloting in Bangladesh, and provided support. Monitored data flow, performed cleaning, collation, and analytics, addressing issues during piloting to finalize the tool.

October 2022 - March 2024

Research & Community Engagement

I coordinated research activities, ensuring interviews aligned with participants' schedules at Salama Youth Hub in Mukuru Nairobi and with London School of Economics and Political Science students in London. Documented and successfully executed a research week, reaching 27 participants in 5 days, including individual interviews, a focused group discussion, and Key Informant Interviews. Drafted a comprehensive budget, reimbursed participants, and facilitated logistics for 43 Mukuru Community members to connect with London School of Economics students. Ensured security during interviews and generated an activity report for future planning and decision-making.

Mapped 120 childcare centers (day & night), early childhood training centers, and schools, listing 630 households with children aged 5 and below in Mukuru slums, Nairobi. Conducted 30 In-depth interviews with childcare providers, Community Health Promoters, and Early Childhood Development Centers heads. Facilitated 5 Focused Group Discussions with community members and Community Health Promoters. Completed a household survey with 288 participants, using GPS coordinates to track missing interviewees.

2020 - 2023

Research Assistant

Conducted a successful endline evaluation, collecting data from 250 project participants using SurveyCTO. Utilized field officer skills to track down untraceable participants and those in the control group, ensuring timely data submission. Probed interviewees for deep insights into the project impact, tracked participants using Google Maps, and located missing individuals. Interviewed 53 SME business owners across five counties. Efficiently carried out a baseline evaluation for the KYEOP Program, reaching 140 participants, and ensured logistical measures for secure travels, cultural sensitivity, and adherence to research ethics.

2019 - 2020

Research Assistant

Successfully reached 97 small-scale farmers, collecting high-quality data using Kobo Collect. Conducted data quality checks for inconsistencies before submitting data to the server. As a Research Assistant in the Midline Evaluation in Kisumu and Vihiga, Kenya in August 2019, efficiently completed 48 interviews in the two counties.
